Got an old model lying in a drawer myself for that very reason. You could map your own course if you wanted, but Coffey Challenge Tour Pro Feb 28, Joined Nov 22, Messages 1, Coffey said:. I believe that the courses on SkyCaddie have been walked and manually calculated for the yardages whereas companies like TomTom just use satellite and GPS to map the courses.
In saying that, I have a TomTom and my PP has a SkyCaddie and they are always nearly identical maybe 2 yards out max, and thats not to say that the SkyCaddie is the correct one! All very logical until your course , or the one your visiting, has made changes then it might be years before your GPS is showing changes. My old course has made many changes over the last few years new holes, greens, bunkers, ditches and layout and from all the GPS systems Ive seen only skycaddie is correct, golf buddy did make one change a couple of years ago but nothing since then.
Garmin and the others are still working on the course from about 4 years ago. All credit to them skycaddie are at least active in making changes to their devices, just a shame when you use it for the same unchanged course that you still have to pay! Val Ryder Cup Winner Feb 28, Well that's my point exactly- I don't think how long term it can last when you are getting pretty accurate readings already for free after you have paid a not insignificant sum with another device.

Yeah I can play 3 rounds before a charge.

Now, by learning to target the large safe zones on a hole, you can start eliminating those 6s, 7s and 8s from your scorecard Further customize the SkyCaddie by choosing one of several user-selectable color theme options.
Play golf just once with the SkyCaddie GPS , and I guarantee three things will happen: you'll play better, you'll play faster, and you'll have more fun! Last year, I watched the Champions Tour as a spectator. This year, I'm playing on the Tour. SkyGolf helped me get there!
From my experience, the SkyCaddie is the best on-course training tool that I've ever encountered. Honest to God, I went out yesterday afternoon with the unit for the first time with students in a golf school and we had the most effective on-course training session that we've ever been able to produce. The SkyCaddie golf rangefinder gives you exactly the kind of information I give my players.
It's like having a personal caddie in the palm of your hand. If it could carry a bag, I would be out of a job! Most of the players and caddies on the Tour bought their golf rangefinders from me to check critical distances on the golf course before tournament play begins. It seemed that everyone was intrigued that I could tell them exact distances to the 15 targets on our range. SkyGolf's product made me look like some kind of brain.
As a result of the range demonstration, the SkyCaddie golf GPS rangefinder helped my students and customers significantly in knowing distances, to the target as well as how far each club actually hits and therefore in their course management.
It is common for players to ask me to use my SkyCaddie during a round of golf. I give mine out anytime someone requests it. It's easy to use, saves me time, and knocked 5 strokes off my score the first time I played with it.
I used it for the first time on Saturday and it definitely saved me at least four strokes in my round.
