Application software also comes in handy when it comes to keeping businesses connected and organized.

Database management software allows organizations and individuals to collect, store, manipulate, analyze and share large amounts of information. In the simplest possible terms, database management systems are sort of like digital, modern-day versions of old-fashion filing cabinets. Examples of popular database managers include Oracle and Microsoft Access.

It is mostly created to perform a specific task for a user. Application Software acts as a mediator between the end-user and System Software. It is also known as an application package. This type of software is written using a high-level language like C, Java, VB. Net, etc. It is a user-specific and is designed to meet the requirements of the user.

You can also install multiple Application Software on a single System Software. Example: Word-processing, Spreadsheet, Database, etc. Many people use the words app and application interchangeably, but purists will tell you that the two are slightly different. App is used to describe a type of application that has a single functionality, whereas an application may handle a number of functions.
